Another perfect day for the last workparty before Summer planting day and loads accomplished by our 19 incredible voluneers. The 9 Manchester Road planters have been prepped ready for Exeter Road School children to add some summmer colour, and a good section of the pavers there were weeded, ( tough job that)
Sheila and Angie lifted the tete a tetes from the three tribute boats which will be dried and cleaned and replanted in the Autumn. George was out and about litter picking …good man. Peter and Les were tasked with trimming back the Ivy outside Holland and Barratt and giving the the shrubs in the 3 Magnolia Centre wood- look planters a ‘hair cut’. The Dino Paddocks were de-weeded of ‘ sticky weed’ ( can’t believe how fast that grows) and the grass was edged up.
Peter and Pauline took the opportunity to give the perennial geraniums by the Waterwheel pond, their annual ‘ Chelsea chop’ to encourage new growth.
We had great help from Emma and heradorable daughter Evelyn and Granddaughter Isla today. What little treasures they are. Evelyn took her responsibility of sprinkling slow release fertiliser where needed, very seriously.
We had a lovely donation to EiB from Chester House today. Thank you, and a wonderful surprise offer of Coffee all round, from Abas at The Italian Store in Rolle Street, who popped over to take all our drinks orders and then brought our drinks over the road as ‘takeaways’. A real treat and thank you to The Italian Store. Delicious indeed.
